The mystery of the monolith
A monolith was spotted atop the Pine mountain loop at Stadium Park in Atascadero, a popular hiking spot, that lies halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The structure appeared on December 2, reportedly after the mysterious disappearance of monoliths found in Romania and Utah. The three-sided structure appeared to be made of stainless steel and is around 10 feet tall and 18 inches wide. The structure is similar to the ones found in Romania ad Utah, however, the aforementioned structure is different as it was not placed in the ground and could be toppled with a firm push, leaving the risk of injuring hikers if it were to fall. The origin of the mysterious monolith is unknown but a Facebook post by the City of Atascadero has explained its disappearance. The post read, "the Monolith has been taken down by a group that travelled over five hours in the middle of the night to remove the mysterious 3-sided steel structure that stood about 10 ft. tall and appeared to weigh an estimated 200 pounds. "
Latest update- Another monolith with unknown origin has been spotted on the Isle of Wight in England.
COVID-19 testing at Delhi Metro stations?
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has commenced free COVID-19 testing facilities at around 10 metro stations on a rotation basis. Kiosks have been set up at around 6 metro stations including, ITO, Nehru Place, Badarpur, Chandini Chowk, Netaji Subhash Place and Inderlok. The following step has been taken in the view of the increasing cases of COVID19 infection in the capital. According to sources, tests will be conducted by staff including a lab technician and four civil defence volunteers. All these tests are free and rapid antigen tests. "This officially kicked off in November. However, it was a gradual development as initially only a few stations like Chandni Chowk, which are usually quite busy, had testing counters," a DMRC spokesperson said, reported Moneycontrol.in. The facility is likely to include both rapid antigen tests (RAT) as well as RT-PCR, which is considered to be the gold standard for COVID-19 testing.
