Overuse of hand sanitizer harmful: Health Ministry

India has so far reported over 13 lakh coronavirus cases."These are unprecedented times...no one thought that a virus outbreak, of this nature, will occur," said Dr RK Verma, Additional Director-General of health services, Ministry of Health. Without a doubt, the market value of products like hand sanitizers, face masks and disinfectants has exponentially increased. Harbouring this in mind, Dr RK Verma raised his concern regarding the overuse of hand sanitizers and it's effect on human health. It is a proven fact that excessive use of alcohol or non-alcohol based hand sanitizers can create stronger bacteria also called 'antibiotic-resistance bacteria'. He also added, "use masks to protect yourself, drink hot water frequently and wash hands rigorously."

Even chickens prefer beautiful people. Suggests study

A 2002 research paper by Stefano Ghirlanda, Liselotte Jansson and Magnus Enquist at Stockholm University suggests that Chickens do prefer beautiful people in general. The study aimed to question if like humans chickens too prefer beautiful faces or not? The study included six chickens, trained to react to faces or ordinary men and women. They were tested on a series of images ranging from an average face to a face with attractive male or female characteristics. A group of fourteen human students were also administered the same test. To a surprise, the chickens showed preferences for faces consistent with human sexual preferences. The three researchers claimed that the study offers evidence for the hypothesis that human preferences stem not from "face-specific adaptations" but from "general properties of the nervous system".

Almost every day we come across numerous animal abuse videos on our social media feeds. Animal abuse is so normalized that makes us question its roots. How despite being measures, India is the source of maximum animal abuse videos? The answer lies right in front of us, in our legal provisions. We live in a country where one could get away with harming and endangering an animal's life in just Rs. 50. Rs. 50 is the cost of a stray's life in India, perhaps this cost is lower than that of your favourite bag of chips. Ironically, the expense of treating an injured animal in a government-run hospital goes above and beyond Rs.5000. Recently, a video was circulated on the popular social media platform, Instagram where a man was seen setting a cat on fire, alive, filming it while she ran in excruciating pain towards her ultimate end. Now we are well aware of where the roots of the problem lie.

47 Chinese apps including PUBG banned

In a recent move, the Indian Government has decided to ban an additional 47 Chinese apps. The government, in June, banned 59 Chinese apps including Camscanner, Tik Tok and Shein among others. The government justified its move by citing the intention to protect national interest and security. Now the government has banned over 50 Chinese apps for operating as clones of previously banned apps. There has been no official announcement yet but reports suggest that it is likely to happen any time soon. It is widely being speculated that the popular Chinese gaming app PUBG mobile would also be a part of the fresh list.
